Izabella Gill-Brown trained at Northumbria University in the Conservation of Fine Art (Easel Paintings). She has worked across a wide variety of organisations throughout the UK, including National Portrait Gallery London, English Heritage and National Museums. Izabella is an alumni of the Institute of Conservation UK internship programme, reserved for the most promising upcoming conservators in the country.

Izabella’s principle specialism is paintings and frame conservation, however (as can be seen from the attached photograph!) she has also spread her repertoire to preventative and object based work.

Izabella thrives on challenging and interesting projects – no matter the size or the scale.

John (Izabella’s Husband!) has joined the company from another sector within the heritage sector in the UK. John is assisting the company in a variety of ways, dealing with day to day management of key activities, such as administration and strategy.

John is passionate about art, and has enjoyed learning about the application of restoration and conservation through peeking into Izabella’s studio! John originally trained as a lawyer, and passed his degree with Honours, before having a “career change” into industrial restoration.

John currently runs an industry-leading classic car restoration company, and loves all aspects of breathing new life into old objects… whether on road wheels or castor wheels!

We’re no strangers to the complexities of the Art World – filled with jargon, varied pricing or unclear time frames. Brown & Brown was created to tackle these issues – whether you are an expert or a novice, we will guide you through the process – from the earliest stage of receiving a quote, to the works carried out and your artwork being safely returned. We fully understand that regardless of your artwork and its financial value, it matters to you that it looks its best once again – this is what matters to us.

Whilst it may not seem a priority right now, keeping your artwork in the best possible shape will ensure its longevity for future generations to come. Also – if you plan to hang it on your wall, or place it in a prominent location… it is always a good idea to have your piece looking its very best. Carrying out important treatments to your artwork can also increase its value, whilst making it inherently more saleable, should you plan to sell it.

This can vary widely depending on the treatments needed to your artwork, and its size. At Brown & Brown, we believe in a transparent and communicative approach – whilst we will never set a hard deadline, we will always do our best to work with our clients needs. We’d much prefer to “do the job properly” rather than rush a piece to meet a deadline, and underwhelm you!

This is a great question. Ultimately, the decision rests with you, the client, as to whether you believe Brown and Brown are the best fit for you. We don’t do high pressure sales. We established this company in order to provide services to clients that we believe are overcomplicated, overpriced and deliberately convoluted to the benefit of the chosen company. We are a family run business and we believe in providing the best possible service, in the clearest and most concise manner. Brown and Brown has been established “off the back” of other successful heritage businesses, which have done the very same thing we are now achieving here.

Simply put, yes we can. Whether we complete this task ourselves, or hand it to a trusted art handling service, we can get your artwork anywhere in the world. We will always pre-quote for collection and delivery as part of any work we carry out. You are, of course, welcome to use your own carrier for your piece, but please do make sure that it is correctly wrapped/crated (if a large piece) AND insured!

Yes we can. Whether you remove the artwork yourself and only send us the frame, or if you want to send your whole piece, we can help. Do be aware if you plan to send the whole piece, there will be a charge to remove it, store it and re-install it when the frame is complete.
